In 1963, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene and Günther Uecker planned a museum or "ZERO House" - as they orginally called it - for the city of Gelsenkirchen. Despite the support of the artist Ferdinand Spindel, the project never got beyond the initial planning stage.

The fourth and last issue of the magazine "nota", which is edited by Gerhard von Graevenitz und Jürgen Morschel, is published with a work by Heinz Mack on the cover. It contains, among other things, a joint essay by Heinz Mack and Otto Piene, in which the authors discuss the exhibitions ""Vision in Motion - Motion in Vision" (Antwerp, 1959) and "Dynnamo 1" (Wiesbaden, 1959).

The second and last issue of the magazine "Azimuth", edited by Enrico Castellini and Piero Manzoni, was published on occasion of the exhibition "La nuova concezione artistica" (The new artistic conception) at the Galleria Azimut, Milan. In addition to the texts in Italian, French and German, the issue contains illustrations of works of the exhibiting artists, complemented with a photo of Otto Piene's Light Ballet.

The third and last issue of the magazine “ZERO” (edited by Heinz Mack and Otto Piene) was presented at the event „ZERO: Edition, Exposition, Demonstration“ at the Galerie Schmela in Düsseldorf. This issue contains the contributions of over thirty artists from ten different countries. Thus, it provides an excellent overview of the international ZERO movement.

The first issue of the Magazine “ZERO” (edited by Heinz Mack and Otto Piene) was published on occasion of the seventh evening exhibition Das rote Bild (The red picture). This was the first time that Mack and Piene used the name ZERO.

As certified by the gallery owner Alfred Schmela, he received 39 issues of the very first "ZERO" magazine, which was published on the occasion of the seventh evening exhibition "Das rote Bild", (The red picture), organized by Heinz Mack and Otto Piene in their studios. For this exhibition, the Galerie Schmela lent some works in their possession.
